Mindfulness
refers to a state of awareness that arises by paying attention to the present moment, with acceptance and without judgement. Mindfulness is ubiquitous – a natural part of being human – that has been cultivated and practiced for over 2600 years in various traditions around the world. Scientific studies have demonstrated mindfulness practice to benefit a variety of psychological and physical conditions, as well as to have measurable positive effects on the brain.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
is a structured 8-week mindfulness training program developed in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Since its creation, MBSR has supported hundreds of thousands of people around the world in improving their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Backed by extensive research, MBSR has been shown to effectively reduce symptoms of chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and overall stress. The program combines mindfulness meditation, gentle movement, and group discussions to help participants develop a more conscious and compassionate relationship with their thoughts, emotions, and bodies.
Each week of the program focuses on different aspects of stress—both emotional and physical—and introduces practical tools to respond to these challenges with awareness and resilience. MBSR empowers individuals to navigate life with greater calm, clarity, and balance.
