Our Vision. Our Mission.

DSC07712.JPG

At AYR Mindfulness, our mission is to support and enhance the physical and mental well-being of individuals through the development, delivery, training, and research of mindfulness-based practices. We are deeply passionate about sharing these teachings with those who are open and willing to receive them.

Our programs are designed to meet people where they are, offering professional guidance and compassionate support to anyone who may benefit. Whether you're navigating stress, seeking greater self-awareness, or working through emotional or physical challenges, we’re here to walk alongside you on your journey.

Mindfulness has been shown to help with a wide range of mental and physical health concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, eating disorders, chronic pain, sleep disturbances, and stress. Beyond symptom relief, mindfulness fosters positive growth—enhancing creativity, patience, self-awareness, and deepening relationships with both self and others.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to kindness, integrity, and inclusivity. We pride ourselves on creating safe, welcoming spaces—whether in person or online—where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported.

Our Name

ALLOW
In both life and mindfulness practice, one of the foundational principles is learning to allow. To allow things to be as they are—without judgment, resistance, or the need to fix or change. It means becoming the observer of what is, what was, and what may be. Through this acceptance, we begin to honour the full spectrum of life—the highs and lows, the joy and the sorrow. We learn to allow the unfolding, the unknown, the dance of being human.

YOUR
This journey is deeply personal. It’s about you. Your healing. Your growth. Your acceptance. Your compassion toward yourself. Mindfulness invites us to turn inward, to explore the layers of our experience, and to cultivate awareness that is rooted in kindness and self-discovery. This is your life, and mindfulness is a tool to help you live it more fully and authentically.

RHYTHM
Life is always in motion. There is a rhythm to everything—the breath, the body, the seasons, the emotions. Rhythm speaks to the natural flow and movement within us and around us. When we resist the rhythm, we suffer. But when we begin to attune to it, we find freedom. Through mindfulness, we learn not to fight against the rhythm of life, but to move with it, to dance with it, and to find grace within its ebb and flow.

AYR-Air
Air is the breath of life. It is our most essential and constant companion. Without air, there is no life—and without conscious breath, there is no mindfulness. Our breath is our anchor, our reminder, our teacher. It brings us back to the present moment, again and again. AYR reflects this deep connection to breath, to life, and to the ever-present opportunity to return home to ourselves.

Hope is a dedicated mindfulness teacher and co-owner of AYR Mindfulness. She has been practicing mindfulness for over 12 years. Her journey began at the age of 11, when she started experiencing debilitating anxiety that made it difficult to engage in the activities she once loved. After years of struggling, Hope developed a deep interest in understanding the root of her anxiety. This led her to discover mindfulness—a practice that quickly proved transformative.

Her curiosity and passion for healing fueled her commitment to mindfulness, and she realized early on that she wanted to help others find the same peace and clarity she had found. Through her personal journey, Hope became devoted to sharing the benefits of mindfulness with others.

Hope holds an MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teaching qualification from the University of San Diego. She has also completed training in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy under Dr. Phil Wolfson and is a certified yoga instructor in both Hatha and the 26 & 2 style. Since 2022, she has been teaching alongside her mother and AYR co-owner, Terry Haynes.

Hope integrates mindfulness into her daily life through a variety of practices—whether it’s seated meditation, walking meditation, or yoga. She also embraces informal mindfulness in her everyday hobbies and activities. For Hope, mindfulness is a pathway to connecting with our truest and most authentic selves. It fosters awareness, acceptance, and gratitude—qualities she believes are essential to living a meaningful life.

As a teacher, Hope draws on both her personal experiences and professional training to guide others on their own mindfulness and wellness journeys. Teaching mindfulness is not just a profession for her—it’s a calling rooted in empathy, insight, and the desire to help others live more fully.

Terry Haynes is a Certified MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher and co-owner of AYR Mindfulness. She holds a B.A. in Hospitality and Tourism from Ryerson University but felt a connection to mindfulness from a young age. Growing up, she spent her summers in a remote cabin without electricity or running water—an experience that fostered a deep sense of inner peace, self-awareness, and appreciation for simplicity.

Although mindfulness was a quiet thread throughout her life, it wasn't until Terry experienced a profound personal loss and the physical and emotional toll of chronic pain that she actively sought alternative methods of healing. Beginning with simple daily meditations and gradually embracing mindfulness practices, she was deeply moved by the profound mental and physical transformations that followed. It soon became clear that sharing these practices through teaching would be her next path.

Terry was drawn to the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of MBSR, and chose to study under his guidance at the University of Massachusetts for four years. She then completed her certification as an MBSR teacher at the University of San Diego. Since beginning her teaching career in 2010, Terry has worked across a wide range of settings and populations.

Her work includes research collaborations with Queen’s University, offering private mindfulness-based therapy, and supporting athletes, students, healthcare professionals, and educators. She has taught stress reduction programs to thousands of participants and has been a speaker at various events, including the Care 4 U Conference and the Queen's University Conference on Education. In addition, she is a Certified Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapist, trained by Dr. Phil Wolfson.

Terry brings many years of wisdom, experience, and compassion to her mindfulness teachings. Her approach is grounded in authenticity and shaped by both personal healing and professional study. She is passionate about guiding others toward greater awareness, resilience, and well-being through mindfulness.
